Makes the shots more accurate.
~ In-game description

Increased Accuracy is the first upgrade of Path 3 for the Mortar Monkey in Bloons TD 6. It shrinks the size of the target reticle, allowing the Mortar Monkey to direct its shots more accurately. With this upgrade, the explosion deviation decreases from 18 to 8, for roughly 2.25x more accuracy.

This upgrade costs $170 on Easy, $200 on Medium, $215 on Hard, and $240 on Impoppable.

Overview[]

The Mortar Monkey gains a headset and a helmet-held speaker. Nothing else changes in terms of visual changes. This also occurs for all crosspaths with the Increased Accuracy crosspath.

The explosion deviation decreases from 18 to 8, for roughly 2.25x more accuracy. This increases the accuracy of the Mortar's shots.

Targeting Priorities[]

Mortar Monkey has only one target priority, "Set Target". This allows the Mortar Monkey to land shells within anywhere inside the target reticle. Tapping on the "Set Target" button prompts the player to change the target position of where the Mortar Monkey will land its shells. By default, once the Mortar Monkey is bought, the Mortar Monkey's target reticle is placed near the start of the first bloon track.

If Striker Jones's Level 7+ Target Focus ability is activated, all Mortar Monkeys are automatically set to Follow Touch / Follow Mouse temporarily, unless manually re-targeted via Set Target, and snap back to their old Set Target option once the ability is finished.

Strategy[]

Summary[]

Increased Accuracy makes the Mortar Monkey's shots more consistently at where the Mortar Monkey is targeted at. This may be useful for specific scenarios where random projectile deviation is detrimental. In normal games however, getting Faster Reload or Bigger Blast and their upgrades as crosspaths is usually better.

Tips[]

  • The Mortar still does not hits its shots 100% accurately with this upgrade, even though it is far more consistent. However, inaccuracy is less of an issue with this upgrade.

Version History[]

Balance Changes[]

Adjustments primarily made for encouraging crosspathing other than Path 2.

21.0
  • BUFF Attack speed without Path 2 upgrades increased (2.2s → 2.0s).
  • BUFF Attack speed with Faster Reload increased (1.54s → 1.5s).
  • NERF Attack speed with Rapid Reload decreased (1.07s → 1.08s).
39.0
We’re looking to shakeup mortar in a couple small ways this update, along with Striker Jones changes noted further on for ‘multi-mortaring’ synergy. From the base level Mortar has far more pierce than should ever be necessary at low rounds but doesn’t hit beefy enough for the low fire rate, so we are trading up some base pierce for damage, instead moving this lost pierce up into crosspath. [...]
~ Ninja Kiwi
  • BUFF Increased Accuracy base damage increased (1 → 2)
  • NERF Increased Accuracy base pierce reduced (40 → 25)

Trivia[]

  • This upgrade and Focused Firing are the only upgrades that modify the target symbol (also known as the "crosshair" or "recticle"). It decreases the size of the target symbol.
  • In Version 21.0, there was a bug whereby Increased Accuracy had absolutely no effect on Artillery Battery and Pop and Awe, as the explosion deviation remained the same whether or not the upgrade was purchased or not. The same issue happened when purchasing Burny Stuff as the upgrade above. This was fixed as of Version 22.0; in fact, this bug was reported by Ninja Kiwi to be long unreported until the Version 21.0 general accuracy nerf.
