Shurikens can pop 4 Bloons each.
~ In-game description

Sharp Shurikens is the 2nd upgrade on Path 1 for the Ninja Monkey in Bloons TD 6. With this upgrade, shurikens pop up to 4 bloons instead of 2. Like its previous upgrade, Ninja Discipline, the range benefit in this game is instead moved into Seeking Shuriken.

This upgrade costs $295 on Easy, $350 on Medium, $380 on Hard, and $420 on Impoppable.

Description[]

Overview[]

Ninja Monkey with Sharp Shurikens receives a black ninja suit, and the Ninja's headband and belt change from white to red. Most crosspaths with this upgrade receive just a color change of headband and belt.

Shurikens thrown by a Ninja Monkey with Sharp Shurikens or higher will throw light-grey shurikens instead of dark-grey shurikens. These shurikens pierce even more bloons, although the Ninja's other sharp weapons do not gain further pierce.

Targeting Priorities[]

Sharp Shurikens targets bloons using the standard targeting priorities. It shoots straight movement projectiles.

  • First: Targets the first bloon visible within its range.
  • Last: Targets the last bloon visible within its range.
  • Close: Targets the closest bloon visible within its range.
  • Strong: Targets the strongest bloon visible within its range.

All Ninja Monkeys can access Camo Prioritization. While Camo Prioritization is active, it allows all its attacks to prioritize Camo Bloons over other types.

Strategy[]

Summary[]

Extra pierce for the shuriken attacks are quite useful for early-game, especially in combination with Seeking Shuriken. It has little improvement for Upper Path 2 or Upper Path 3, as it only affects the shuriken attack, however.

Tips[]

  • A Ninja Monkey with Sharp Shurikens can be used for early game because of its high pierce, fast attack speed, low cost, and camo popping power.
  • Crosspathing this upgrade with Upper Path 3 is near worthless, as the Sharp Shurikens upgrade only affects the shuriken itself.
  • As for crosspathing with Shinobi Tactics, it is generally unnecessary to buy this upgrade, as the extra attack speed from Ninja Discipline is sufficient. But adding in Sharp Shurikens can be helpful if a majority of the DPS in the game comes from spamming Shinobi Tactics and desiring the piercing blowback power.

Version History[]

Balance Changes[]

Sharp Shurikens did not receive any balance changes since it was first released in BTD6. However, it can no longer have both Distraction and Seeking Shuriken at the same time, as those upgrades are mutually exclusive as crosspaths for this upgrade.

As with all Ninjas, there is a Camo Prioritization target option available that may be useful in niche situations involving Camos.
