Description[]

Overview[]

Placeholder other

Sharper Darts

The aircraft gains red paintwork on all parts of the wings except the blue rings on each side of the upper biplane wing and the middle panel of the upper biplane wing.

Sharper Darts increases pierce of each dart by +3, and dropped bombs by +12.

Targeting Priorities[]

Like all Monkey Aces, Sharper Darts uses flight patterns as its targeting priority settings. It requires the Centered Path upgrade to access Centered Path targeting option.

  • Circle: Flight pattern becomes a circular path around the runway.
  • Figure Infinite: Flight pattern becomes the shape of the infinite symbol (∞). As the Monkey Ace flies, it will pass its runway during its flight, specifically at each half of the whole flight path.
  • Figure Eight: Flight pattern becomes the shape of the number 8. As the Monkey Ace flies, it will pass its runway during its flight, specifically at each half of the whole flight path.
  • Wingmonkey: Instead of a fixed flight path, the Monkey Ace will attempt to fly as close to the path as possible, similarly to an Aircraft Carrier Plane. Available only via the Wingmonkey MK.
  • Reverse Flight: Shown by an icon of a reverse aircraft, the Ace will reverse direction of flight. Unlike other target priorities such as Change Hands, there is a cooldown of 5 seconds before being able to reverse flight direction again. It can be coupled with all flight options except Wingmonkey.

Like most Monkey Aces, Sharper Darts shoots darts in a zone-like fashion while having Path-Based Mobility.

Strategy[]

Summary[]

Sharper Darts adds bonus pierce for the Monkey Ace, which for a low cost optimizes the pierce of the darts and any additional bombs. Because the base Monkey Ace possesses decent pierce, this upgrade is not very useful by itself, and should be paired with Operation: Dart Storm or Sky Shredder.

Tips[]

  • Dropped bombs from Exploding Pineapple as well as Bomber Ace and above pop up to 12 more bloons, somewhat useful in Race Events, but not nearly enough to make them superior over the reliable rate of bomb drops via Rapid Fire. Ground Zero ability remains unaffected by the Sharper Darts upgrade itself.
  • This upgrade provides Top Path Ace with extra pierce which is useful when hordes of bloons arrive and is better than the other crosspath, of which the Exploding Pineapple does almost nothing while Spy Plane is very niche for Sky Shredder if good forms of camo detection are available.

Trivia[]

  • Sharper Darts is the only upgrade for the Monkey Ace that directly increases pierce for its darts for all upgrades. Even Sky Shredder darts do not gain bonus pierce. Spectre darts have an option that grants more pierce (via Lots More Darts), but not every crosspath combination has access to the Spectre upgrade.
